Yayoi Kusama robotic figure at Louis Vuitton window display, NYC

Exploring New York City through art, photography & the stories that connect us all.

Art in Motion

Whether it's the captivating Louis Vuitton 5th Avenue flagship store window display by legendary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, featuring a robotic woman painting colorful polka dots for Bloomingdale's in 2023, or the vibrant mural on the Union Water Tank at 14th Street and 4th Avenue in the East Village that same year, depicting children holding hands around a rooftop water tank created in 2014 by German street artist, STIK, to honor the 1882 Union Square Labor Day rally, these works left a lasting mark.

Watching the robotic painter in the Bloomingdale's window, each stroke was precise. I was mesmerized by the repetition of circles and the robotic, vast expression. In that moment, I felt the depth and complexity of our world, realizing that even the most familiar scenes are constantly changing.

The East Village mural evoked a similar feeling. The simple idea of stick figures expressing connection, unity, and humanity, grounding this incredible artwork in the history of Labor Day and the establishment of the eight-hour workday, is brilliantly done.

I encourage my readers and followers to explore street murals throughout all five boroughs of New York City. These works tell our stories, capture history, and shape our urban culture. Art is the heart and soul of our narratives, reflecting the richness of our diverse backgrounds.

Meet the Creator & Founder of ART PIX BLOG, Wanda Jones López

Hello! My name is Wanda A. Jones-López, and I am the creative mind behind ART PIX BLOG. This platform was born from my deep passion for artistic expression and my dedicated mission to bring together art and community through visual storytelling that resonates with the heart and soul. I firmly believe that a single photograph, a beautifully crafted drawing, or a compelling story has the power to profoundly impact individuals, sparking change, especially in the vibrant neighborhoods of New York City.

New York City is a rich tapestry of cultures, voices, and lived experiences. As Aretha Franklin once captured so beautifully in "There is a Rose in Spanish Harlem," art has always been a beacon of hope, a thread that binds our communities together and reminds us of our shared humanity.

More about me, I hold a bachelor's degree in Community and Human Services, which has equipped me with insights into the diverse needs of individuals and communities. Alongside my formal education, I have pursued my love for art through both academic study and independent exploration. In my leisure time, I find joy in painting and writing, crafting poems and short stories that weave narratives reflecting the human experience.

Through ART PIX BLOG, I aspire not only to share my creations but also to inspire my audience to engage with art, photography, tutorials, and featured stories/articles. Together, we can foster a vibrant, connected, and diverse community that celebrates creativity and the shared human experience.
